throttle body question

Post by nickpolo »

hi guys,

something thats been bugging me,

ages ago we gave my car a propper cleaning over, this included taking the cover off the throttle body and giving it a good clean with spray, taking it right through the rev range....

however it hardly ever opened up much - is it supposed to?

what do you mean? the throttle plate? it should open progressively as you press the throttle pedal, floor it and it will open all the way, just move it manually to clean it, take it u were using carb/throttle cleaner?

I doubt the throttle butterfly would open up fully without a load on the engine unless you were bouncing it off the rev limiter

Correct teg. It will only open fully, on full depression of the pedal, ie climbing up a hill, or nice quick acceleration down a road.
