GiT failed it's MOT today

So the Polo failed it's MOT today...

Only on one item, can you guess what it is? CLUE: it is related to the fact that the car is lowered

did it just fail for being too low or because your flexi hoses has been rubbed through?

Spot on Tom, its actually the front brake hoses that have been failed for "chaffing"... they will eventually wear through.

Ordered the OE replacements today, they are being fitted Sunday morning, retest next week.

Then will look in to getting Goodridge (sp?) braided hoses

Chaffing (I still don't know if that's spelt right!) on the wheels on full lock!

Fitted, with a friend's help, the new hoses on Sunday morning just gone, refreshed the brake fluid and the car passed its retest this lunchtime in a matter of minutes at no extra cost

When I had a look at the hoses that came off, they were in a pretty poor shape! The new ones are cable-tied around the shock absorber now. Definitely looking out for Goodridge braided items before the next MOT though I think!

All good to go for Edition now then... except for a list of jobs almost as long as my arm

Ah i see, me and Alex secured mine pretty well to the strut using the existing clip, so i sohuld be fine. Will double check though!

Ok this happened mine also but I got mine changed before going into the mot. I had it cabled tied to the shock and he was goin to fail it. He says that they are extremely dangerous cable tied and made me cut it off. Just a word of warning.

IMHO....As has been said....cable ties holding flexis in place is not a good idea!!!!! (If you do have to do that, split a piece of fuel/heater hose and pop if over the flexi to prevent chaffing and crushing)

If the standard hoses are too long...you can get braided hoses made to measure so you dont get any rubbing!!

(And if you get the choice...get sleeved or laminated braided hoses....If you just have a stainless braid all sorts of crap works its way down inside the braid and starts to rub away at the pipe inside!!!)
