Quick question

Post by Overseer »

Is it right that my GTi will show the cars milage even when the ignition is turned off?

If so, is there any way to hide it until the ignition is turned on?

Ta.

yeah I think that is the case, go to your car and take a look! Not sure if you can hide it at all.

Just wondered really. On my previous car it would turn off if the ignition wasn't on. Find it strange it stays on constantly.

Most modern cars seem to do it....Not sure why...

But TBH, it proberably draws so little current you would have to leave the car standing for YEARS before that little display drained the battery!

Not bothered about the battery. Don't like the idea of a passer by being able to check the mileage. Silly, I know.

doesnt it usually show the mileage until you lock the car? then it turns it off...so passers by cant see it unless you leave the car unlocked

Nope, on the newer cars it disappears a few seconds after removing the key from the ignition but on our older dubs it stays there all the time unless the battery is dead.
