Insurance

Post by polo-sib »

I'm starting to think insurance as a joke, I had an accident and my insurance went up to £2000 from £1400 last year, which is fair enough. However back then I was a student.

Now I have become employed recently with a full time job. I have contacted the company of my change ASAP and I'm not happy, they quoted me £4400 which is £2400 more (just because I'm no longer a student but full time employed), what a joke and they also said because you where on the student insurance you will also loose any NCB that you have earnt within the company by changing to the real adult insurance policy. My jaw dropped when they quoted me this information, I'm unhappy about it and will be canceling my policy with Endsleigh (Zurich). I think its silly that even if you did gain NCB you would just loose it all like that, what a shock.

Anyone got any opinions on this and insurance in general, I am shocked if I knew this was going to happen I would of changed companies a long time ago.

£400 a year on a GTi

It soon comes down with NCB. I'd hate to be paying some of those prices.

Try the comparison sites like confused.com & moneysupermarket.com etc, etc. Will give you an idea on who's going give a good price, then start the old fashioned ring around the best few & play them up against each other to get the best deal.

Also try Elephant & Direct Line, neither comes up on the usual comparison sites, plus Tesco too.

Me being old enough to know better & driving a 1.3, plus living in a low crime rural area, means my fully comp insurance with a £60 excess & protected NCB, is only £170! Really should be paying less!

Even when I declare the alloys & 60mm drop thats going on it, I don't think it'll change much, if any!!! 8) (I'm with Elephant)

Upsetting ain't it! I've never spent more than 400 quid for a years insurance in my life!! At 27 I insured my 2ltr car & a V8 engined landrover for £500 fully comp!

That was 9-10 years ago, insurance is stupidly high now! Bonus for being older now!

If your not declaring mods, or don't have any to claim try Tescos and Direct Line.

Mods - try elephant, brentacre adrian flux and HIC.

you mean being a girl ftw! female drivers get premiums at about half the rate of guys. proven. im paying 1250 a year 3rd party f+t for a 1.0 6n, my policy. thats the cheapest i could get it. ironically, it went UP when i made it my mum/dads policy with me named. started 18yo. insurance is a royal p***take.

On the subject of insurance...

I just phoned Privilege to change my address and they are giving me a refund of over £100. Result!

Only paid something like £700 previously. 23, 4 years NCB, 1 claim.
