1.4 TDI

Hi folks,

Just got 512 miles out a full tank of BP Ultimate Diesel, and the projected range after I filled up was 620 miles. Average mpg is 59.1 at the moment. I have now done 15000 mls, and it keeps getting better.....

What have you guys been getting?

I've had mine for 4 weeks now; I filled up today after 390 miles

I did manage 450 on the tank before though, which is more what I was hoping for. Lovely car though - I had a 1.7SDi Lupo before so it's a good step up - though I do miss the sharp handling of the Loop!

So does the economy get better as the car wears in then? I've just done 1,100 miles. And is BP Ultimate Diesel any good? I'm out in the sticks, so the car gets local cheap diesel from a little Q8 garage.

Well, I definitely find the mpg gets better as the engine wears in, and BP Ultimate... it seems to make a difference, but your supposed to run it on at least 5 tanks before seeing the full benefit, don't know why that should be. And I can easily use two BP stations on my way to/from work.

I have the opportunity to swap my new (04) 1.2 Twist 3dr for an (02) 1.4 75hp SE Sport.

Would you go for it?

The 1.4 has 15" five spoke VW wheels, sports suspension and remote central locking...

ho much liters is a gallon?

I drive up to 920kms with mine with exactly 50 liters

(if you let the air out the tank via the nob inside the fuel cap(if you know what I mean)

Are you sure its a 75bhp Sport, thing is VW have never offered the Sport with that engine?

Only consider it if its an FSi engined Sport model. Without wishing to offend 16V owners, I noticed little difference between it and the FSi. Except the FSi can do about 15 more miles to the gallon

I would keep the Twist. Purely for the age of the car.
