Replacing tailight bulbs...

I have half a circle out on my back left light... M.O.T this week so needs to be changed.. got the bulb but dont no how to change it! Cant find an D.I.Y guide either... any help i will be very grateful!

open the boot
look behind the lights and there will be a wing nut type thing, but its plastic. undo the two of them and the whole light will come out the back. unclip the wires and you can then change it with ease.

Have you checked the rear indicator bulbs while you had the rear cluster out - once I got caught at MOT time for that - these orange bulbs end up getting their laquer burnt off them and show white light. I'd check the fronts too for same reason. My excuse to myself was that I did not know that these rear bulbs were orange!

What ball ache.. got the back light off... but... its the upper circle of the light gone.. which means its a smaller bulb to the lower one.... and just my luck, i bought the lower one! Will a polo dealership have one? Pricey? Cheers

Yeah but they will want your eyeballs too, try halfrauds or some independent place. If you can’t identify it stick a pic up. Where did you get the larger bulb from?

Got the bigger bulb from halfords, was about 1.70, going to pop down, my local vw northampton dealer tomorrow.. might post a pic up of the bulb later if i'm stuck! WATCH THIS SPACE!

mine was som ething stupid likw 28p for top.

i got it from a car garage, just asked if they had one and showed them it

This a 207S that you want - don't be fobbed off this a 207, the 207 has a short round envelope whereas the 207S has a longer envelope with a round end. Halfords Exterior/Interior Bulb 12v 5w - or the more expensive Bosch equivalnet 207S - but what out because quite a lot of the Bosch 207S ones I looked at were actually just 207!

Sorted now guys... thanks for your help... popped to my local vw today and showed them the bulb... cost 50p cant argue!
