For those of you with Green cotton/ K&N oiled air filter

Post by K.I.T.T. »

Was just wondering what oil you used (and where you got it from) whilst err...re-oiling them. Also, some people say you can just clean them using washing up liquid and water?

Mine's been on for 6 months/3000 miles - thought it could do with a clean.

Thanks,
Ash :)

I cleaned my Green filter last weekend, I used the official cleaning kit from Green. To make the 1lt bottle of solution last at least 4 washes, I diluted 250ml of it with warm water. :)

Was wondering the same mate, what engine you running it on aswell?

Pretty sure deamon tweaks do the oil for them, but you might have to pay a premium for it. Also Potn.com might do it.

Can't really draw a conclusion, as it was installed immediately before it was remapped. I'll see if I still have the original filter when I'm back in the UK...would swap it in and let you know :)

And yes, it's a 1.4 TDi on a Custom Code stage 1 remap...should be somewhere around 105ish BHP (for now... ;) ) I would have thought. Plan on getting it on the dyno soon...

I'm guessing the original cleaning kit is the way to go then...

Try PMing david_burton - he's got one on his 1.9 TDi and may be able to tell you if he noticed a difference.

Fitted a k&n to my 1.9 tdi sport (100pd) today. Also fitted the pd160 inlet. The car is more more responsive now and has lost that flatness at 2500 rpm onwards.

Still get 65 mpg too.

Motech remap next.

What engine have you got mate? 1.9 TDi?

And yeah, PD160 and replacing the exhaust from the cat onwards with a straight pipe are my next mods...once Votex + lowering is done.
