Basically these replace part of your suspension set up. They are harder wearing and stiffer than the standard part but due to the way they are manufactured, they still absorb the same amount of noise!

When the suspension parts wear due to the high levels of stress on them, the suspension can become much softer and this leads to faster tyre wear, braking instability and poor handling, which in turn all lead to higher fuel consumption.

These are designed to wear slower and therefore considerably lengthen the life of the above consequences. The following is lifted from the Powerflex website:
Why do I need them then?
POWERFLEX bushes improve your cars' road holding and chassis performance by controlling the amount of unwanted flex in the suspension. This means your suspension is doing what it is supposed to. It means your tyres have greater contact with the road at all times therefore improving safety and performance. Correctly formulated polyurethane is as good if not better at noise, vibration and harshness suppression when compared to rubber.
Hope that helps mate!

Those look well weird :? A lot different to the standard bush, do you have a copy of the fitting instructions?
