re-spraying prices

Guna get me car re-sprayed, asap. How much is a good price, any1 able to advise me where to go, thats cheap, but good?! (am in Hull, so needs to be not too far to travel)

I had my Golf repainted, and what with the new panels/audi handles/a little bit of smoothing it cost me just a smidge under 3k.

AND it rusted within 6 months.

Wow!

If you're a practical person, I suggest you prep the bodywork yourself. This can cut the price by quite a bit. I was going to re-spray my bug some years ago and was quoted Â£1500 if they did all the work, and a little under Â£800 if I preped it myself. I imagine prices have gone up somewhat since then though, but thought I'd add my say!

well I reckon you can repaint a car including buying the equipment for less than Â£500, but then again it takes a long time to learn how to do it properly. You've got to be careful if you're trying to prepare the panels too, because if you dont know what you're doing you can make a real mess.

i won't mention how much it cost me to get the bonnet, both wings, doors and one rear quater done shall i?

i friend did it for me n he is really good, unfortunatly he rushed it a abit n needs a bit of touching up! ah well, i'll get the rest done while i'm there!

mine cost a bit too much n now where they didn't remove the rust on the boot its started to blister

but the good thing is cus they didn't finish the job i asked them to do, by painting the door sills and the inside of the boot lid i only paid them for the price of the paint which was Â£800

It depends who you know, where you go and the quality of workman ship and finish you want.

Get some quotes from a bodyshop.

I'm just doing the arches (winter rust...) at the mo and i thought it was a bit much at 25-30 quid to get started... guess not looking at these figures!

Plus it's a great learning process, if you start off with some small corner of a banger

Reckon it's gonna be beautiful (well, as beautiful as a de-rusted, smoothed, colour matched wheel arch gets). Maybe you could have a go at doing your own, it'll be well satisfying if it goes right.... though of course, heartbreaking and costly if it all falls down round your ears.

only got 2 quotes up 2 now, dont really know where 2 go, a proper bodyshop is guna cost a fortune int it so avoided them up 2 now!
First price was from a mate of a mate, they work round the corner 2 each other, he said Â£1000
Went 2 sum1 else, he said Â£350-Â£480
Bit of a difference!!!
So dunno wot 2 do, friends say dont go 2 cheaper bloke cos it'll be a crap job (I guess they r probably right)

But ant got Â£1000. Guess Ill av 2 keep savin!!

qhave a look at some previous work from each garage - the assumption that paying more means better quality isnt always true
