I'd recommend Toyo Proxes T1-Rs, there's always mixed oppinions on this subject though. Use the serach function and just search 'tyres' in the polo GTi section. You'll find a few threads.

Have a look at Yokohama S-Drive...
I have had them on my car for a while and they stick like hot sh1t in the dry and wet....at silly speeds...and wear really well...
I recon I am comming up to 25K miles on my fronts..
