I don't think the X1 is out yet, I'm at work tomorrow so I'll try and find out about it all. If you want, you can PM me your mobile number and postcode and I can find out what kind of upgrade you'd be looking at in-store so you can base an "argument" on it. Up to you though, as I said we don't really get a great idea of what lee way options are available.

Alex - I've heard rumours that T-mobile workers get a free phone, is that true? And remember, if he gets the deal he wants, he could walk away with the £35 tarrif but for cheaper. Stick with o2, you know you want too  Lol just kidding.
P.S. There's also the Treo 500 but to be honest I have NO clue when it comes to that phone but I know it's on that "smart-phone" level.

I dont think it is yet Nick. Rumoured for next quarter :P

Ye we get a free phone, and discounted this that and everything.

The T-Mobile G1 with google (or the Google Phone) is going to be amazing, and is certainly worth considering. 3.2MP camera, HSDPA, opensource software in all formats it looks wicked!!

Ahh you lucky bugger. Don't get much at o2 except Spirit points in place of commision (Woo Sainsburys vouchers for petrol!). Do get a decent staff tarrif though, although haven't looked into it as I'm tied into a contract with Orange until July. .

Sorry to hi-jack your thread tim :)

but can either of you phone gurus get me a good deal on the arte? The best i've found so far is Dolphin 30, 400 mins & unlimited texts with an outright charge of £239.99 for phone?? this includes a £5 a month discount for buying off the internet & is an 18 month contract. I dont really want to go any higher than the 30 tariff as after tax & all that rubbish it comes to about £38 a month (with the discount)

Does that basically mean your paying the £30 per month charge all up front?

Nope nothing for almost three weeks, then monthly billing for the month previous after that :)

As for the Arte James, call T-Mobile directly and speak to them. We have the Arte, but only directly

Hey Tim, I checked on the system today at work however it came up saying you're not due for an upgrade. Doesn't give me an exact date for when you are so technically it could be tomorrow. I'll give it a try tomorrow as well for you as I'm working again. Regarding the X-1, it is going to be coming sometime soon as you said but I asked the manager and we haven't been given a definite date.

As for the Arte with o2, same with t-mobile, give them a ring as we don't hold them in store. What's attracting you to that phone anyway?

i used to buy smartphones e.g. p900 (when it was first out) & xda exec but it was always full of stuff I didnt use, and when it comes to using touch screen to text sh*t faced in a club it is just an irritation

I just like to have something that looks expensive, is top of its range & not every average joe has one (what attracted to me to the polo gti/cupra etc..) , always loved the 8000 series nokia, my current is the 8800 but even back in the day i loved the 8850 & 8910, to be honest its the best phone i've owned..it looks so sleek & sophisticated I cant get enough...even if it is primitive when it comes to functions....form over function for me & the 8800's are definately best for that...

Cheers for the advice I will give them both a ring!

Our systems were really messing us about today Tim so it may just have been that. Normally if you ring you'll get a different answer to when you come in store. Technically you could go in-store and they'd be able to do it for you manually after speaking to customer services so it's still an option. I'll check again tomorrow to see what it comes up saying and try to post on here if we're not too busy.

I understand what you mean Shanty, I don't use half the functions that are available on today's phones. I don't need music or internet on the go as when I am travelling it's always by car and picture opportunitys are normally on a uni night out when I'm too wasted to bother. Which Arte are you going to be going for? I think there's the Sapphire, Carbon and original. I think carphone warehouse all have them available too so may as well try them as well.

i want the original black one being the cheapest of the three. The sapphire is a bit girly & the carbon is nice but silly expensive for not much difference
