The MP3 option on new 9n's

Post by dxg »

Does anyone know anything about it?

Generic version:

VW's version:

I think - going by photos - that it's a "Becker Monza MP3 7885", but I've never heard anything about this make.

Exploring the possibility of a retro-fit, but will only do it if it's any good. £350 on the street, any idea what a dealer would charge? Anyone know of any better cd-based mp3 head units?

Deek.

As far as I am aware they did create an in car navigation system / radio combination that's been around for quite some while and is very succesful from it's non cluttered look.

I like it, more than I care to admit :P shame I just recently got my Blaupunkt :P

Becker sound/build quality is awesome - you can forget Pioneer, Alpine and the likes the only make that is comparable is Nakamichi.

Becker usually supply to Mercedes.

And Porsche, Ferrari, etc etc. It's well respected for its line of Nav systems and CD/Tape decks.

Becker rules my world.

Hi,

I'm looking to replace my head unit with a simple but good sounding/quality CD/Mp3/Radio unit…and this Becker unit seems to fit the bill nicely.

What would be the differences between the VW's and generic version? I would guess the VW's would have matching dash illumination, no need for an adaptor at the back and be more or less plug n play in the Polo 9n(?). Would anything else be different between them? Will both fit flush in a 04 Polo 9n dash?

Anyone know how much UK VW dealers will ask for theirs? And do VW do any other CD/Mp3/Radio units?

Sorry many Q's… Thanks in advance. Cheers! :o

I have a Becker NAvigation System.... Good thing is that you can always get it with blue background illumination and red key illumination, so it looks great in a 9N. However, it can't play mp3s.

There's a radio/navi/mp3/mobile-phone combo, called online pro, only 1 DIN size, but very expensive, about 1200 pounds

there will be a radio/mp3/navi soon, for a price similar to current satnavs, about 600 pounds....

the alternativ is the one with radio/mp3 without satnav. If you want it in blue/red it's called "Monza mp3 7885". You can get more infos from www.becker.de

the radio/mp3/navi verion, called indianapolis will be out in 2 weeks. price: 1050 Euros, thats about 700 pounds... I think thats really a good price. You'll get maps from the UK and the continent, and the maps are from navtech. If you have a blaupunkt satnav or VW (which is blaupunkt) you'll have to pay for every country extra ... and they use teleatlas maps which are much worse than the navtech ones...
