ok the other day my wife was driving home in her 6n2 gti,and the battery light came on.then some more lights on the dash came on.the petrol gauge stopped working along with the outside temp. so i checked the voltage at the battery and it was 10.70 with the engine running.so i found a secondhand 1 and fitted it.
but it is still not charging properly
is there anything else that could make the car not charge properly?
is there a charging relay?

Bad earth or bad wiring to the battery. Check the big chunky black wire that connects to the positive terminal on the battery
