Agreed, and I certainly didn't buy my because it was cheap and affordable. It cost 5.5 grand and does under 35mpg._dubstar wrote:Mate i think you should cut out slaggin the polos off on a polo only forum as you not gonna be makin many friends that way ... or money. Me personaly would prefer to pay 500 to a decent bloke than 400 to a complete c!*t
Bragging rights does certainly not come into it either. I'd love a few things carbon fibre'd simply because it looks better than black plastic and saves me dressing it every time I wash it.
I own a vento V6(thats off road for mods) and 2 polos 1.3 and 1.9D, have ownd a lot of other cars and theres nothin wrong with a polo. What car do you drive then? As for buyin something that can actually be tuned with decent results... Any c!*t can make a skyline, scooby etc fast but its more fun to make a car your own and be different than a sad lemmin and buyin a borin car.Umm, yeah smart ass i know but in reality who gives a flying **** about saving 20 kg in a 100hp polo... jeez, thats really going to make the car fly.. if you must spend 800 quid making the car quicker then sell it and buy something that can actually be tuned with decent results...
better still...
Puting a carbon bonnet on a polo defies the point in owning a polo... cheap, afforable hatchback (even in gti, cc form)? Instead of keeping costs down to save up for that big 6 cylinder motor you want you'd be wasting your money...
Just for reference, i was defening your prices in my first post and offering a MUCH cheaper alternative to those who will ruin your thread by going on about how your items are overpriced. IMO, unless you're really Scene and you want it for bragging rights (in which case i dont see why you'd drive a polo ) dont bother with proper carbon goods... spend it smoothing something or on some Kw's lol
Sorry for the rant, good luck.

grow up Idiot, I own 2 Polo's because I like them not because I can't afford something else.big_k wrote:Umm, yeah smart ass i know but in reality who gives a flying **** about saving 20 kg in a 100hp polo... jeez, thats really going to make the car fly.. if you must spend 800 quid making the car quicker then sell it and buy something that can actually be tuned with decent results...JPR_polo_gti wrote:defies the whole point of a carbon bonnet, instead of reducing weight you'd be adding...big_k wrote:Yes it may be 450 but what is the actual quality like? I mean is it a perfect fit? Ive seen m3's and other high end motors with carbon bits that dont fit properly... At the end of the day you get what you pay for... If u want a bargain (no offence btw) you're best off getting your bonnet etc wrapped in carbon... thats what id consider doing to keep costs down...

Lol come back and the forum's having a war..!
Anyway, back on topic. All very good ideas and loads of interest shown..
I think as a first group buy, we should do carbon wing mirror covers, OR the front splitter. I guess the MK5 will be the car of choice?
Basics: minimum 6 people, likely cost £90-100 for the wing mirror covers, and £130-150 for the front splitter.
The only problem is the makers need to see the design in person (i.e. I need to send them a mk5 splitter/wing mirror cover to use to make a mould, once i get a 100% go ahead from you guys, i'll get hold of a piece to send to them).
Let's make a list!

sorry to continue the argument but i disagree after all cars like scoobys ans sky lines are already fast so u dont really need to tune it unless u wanna get the best out of it._dubstar wrote:I own a vento V6(thats off road for mods) and 2 polos 1.3 and 1.9D, have ownd a lot of other cars and theres nothin wrong with a polo. also cars like the skylines and scoobys evo's etc are known for speed. polos arnt so next time u see a skyline or something u know it'll be fast, unless it has a flat tyre, however u see a polo u expect it to be slow, but if the owner has modded it then just cause its a small car dont mean its a small engine
Sorry if my post seemed offensive.. just read it back to myself..
i just dont see the point in literally spunking 800 pounds on a bonnet that'll save you 20 kg's... by all means tune your polo, they're f*****g great cars, i love mine! Spending on the polo for performance etc is all good but the reply was aimed more at JPR_polo_gti... he makes out as though spending 800 quid on a carbon bonnet makes your car noticably faster by saving weight.. s**t.. u want to save weight then follow this thread.. http://www.clubpolo.co.uk/forum/index.p ... 968&hl=g40* Basically, using carbon on a polo to save weight is pointless IMO...
In the mean time... if you want a carbon bonnet id advice carbon wrapping if you dont mind the fact that you dont really have a carbon bonnet... Looks just as good.. will almost defo fit better too!
Sorry for any offence caused and good luck to everyone

NO THATS NOT WHAT HE WAS GETTING AT AT ALL!!!!!
A carbon wraped bonnet is as bad as a fake rolex! If you cant afford the real thing dont buy it!!!
nobody on here is stupid mate no1 thinks by fitting a carbon bonnet on a standard heavy (for a small car) polo is going 2 make that much preformance differance if any!
What most people took afence to was you slaging off there cars which im sure alot of people have worked very hard 2 get! So maby you need 2 think before you come on2 a polo forum and start slaging off people cars!
In fact put a sub in your boot and you have cancled out any weight saving a carbon bonnet will give u!
Anywho im in for a carbon splitter if the weve is good (ie no cross stitch) and the price is right!
