I would use the term "excessive stretch" for that picture... sorry but its not my cup of tea at all. Drive it with any intent down a twisty B road and you stand a good chance of having the tyre pop off the rim!
BUT the tread is well within the arch and the tyre is obviously sealed to the rim properly so everything is OK on that front. Maybe he was just being picky
The guy was being picky, he did do a good search of the car complaining about a few things but not taking further action.
In fairness he was decent to me, by not giving me points or a fine for the tyres, having no MOT and driving down a road i wasnt supposed to.
Well its booked in for a MOT on monday morning, so will just have to wait and see what they say about the tyres.
you was lucky to get away with it all tbh, my gf drove without an mot for 6 weeks, not on purpose just had forgot, easy thing to do. i do my TAX and MOT at same time so i know they both run out same time.

This guy knows his stuff about cars as it's the field he works in!
The reason not to run strech is when cornering the side walls are ment to flex and move, and under hard cornering they actually peel away from the rim a litte, if strech is used this can not happen......Ill tell you now those of us who are into out track days and motor sport only laugh at folk running silly wide boy rims, esp if they then have the skinnyist tyres known to man.
sorry mate but if u ever brought that in for me 2 mot i would fail it!!!
stretched tyres are MUCH more likely 2 blow out and any mot teaster is well within his rights 2 fail any car he feels is dangerious!
and 2 the person who said strech tyres dont blow ! tell that 2 my mate who wrote his vr6 off due 2 his stretched tyres poping at 70mph! and this is just one of many i have heard off / seen!!!!
Also you are not allowed any sharp edjes on the car! having the edjes of the rim exposed like that !!!
I think u are just asking for trubble driving your car like that but at the end of the day its your life 2 risk!
and as for racing cars running streached tyres! yes they do but not 2 that extent also there suspention is set so that it can handdle the changes!
