RE: mileage

Post by dee »

I wanted to ask what the average mileage you get with a 1.2s (55bhp) 2002 polo. Could any one give stats for motorway, urban and local road MPG. Could you also tell me how big a VW polo fuel tank is as I am trying to do the calculations of MPG manually.

The tanks are 45 Litres I think. Although even running to almost empty I've never been able to fill more than 39/40 litres.

These taken from the VW Website for the 55bhp

Fuel Consumption
Urban 35.8mpg - 7.9l/100km
Extra-urban 58.9mpg - 4.8l/100km
Combined 47.1mpg - 6.0l/100km

On my car (FSI) the stats on the website are spot on.

hi, i get 314 miles out of a full tank in my 55brake 9n, is this any good? We used to have a polo GTi and it used way less fuel, i presume this is because u hav to red line the 1.2 in every gear to get it to move!!

Yeah, that's about right tim.

I do mostly town driving, which resulted in about 300 miles to the tank in my old 55bhp, and about the same in my current 65bhp.

I only manage 28.4 MPG (urban) with my 1.6 Polo and a light left foot. :(

I still use left or right foot on the brake, depending on which one is less busy. It's a habit my driving instructor tried to get me out of but that was 7 years ago!
