I am heavily contemplating on getting a motor bike and it will be the 125cc as I got a license and all I need is a CBT. But I am still in two minds of getting one as my cars currently off road whilst I'm repairing it, making getting to work a pain.

I see the huge advantage as it being a cheap vehicle that I can pay of quite quickly as well as running costs in fuel and insurance, insurance being as little as Â£300. The biggest disadvantages is the time of year and the risk of exposure which everyone keeps saying "no don't do it especially at this time of year".

So are there any motorcycle users out there and anyone advice that they feel they would like to share or too point me in the right direction please.

do it! bikes are the most fun you can have with your clothes on.

even though the weathers rubbish just now dont worry. get some warm waterproof gear and u'll be fine. learning and generally riding in bad weather make u a far better biker and much more in control of your bike than fair weather riders.

do it.

i ridden(scooter) bikes for last two years all year round can be abit cold but are fun cheap and can be quick(modded can beat ALOT of cars)

get a 125 piaggio engine scooter and 172 it

im never getting a bike.....i would end up killing myself at high speeds...plus they just dont do it for..no interest at all..they all look the same lol

as for getting to work...get a cycle bike? good excuse to get fit & bloody cheap

thats what i plan on doing as the beefa will be in & out of the garage alot

I got a bicycle for riding in the park and to relatives houses which are 30 min in range, unfortunately work is 10 odd miles (20miles a day roughly). If I had it my way I would remove all the cars on my road and fly a Su27 Flanker and use the cleared road as a runway

The current models I have been looking at is the Yamaha YZF-125 and the Honda SR-125 (I think) both around the Â£2000 mark brand new, max speed around the 90mph mark (as fast as my mk4 can go

).

But I am having trouble looking around as I would prefer the bike to have an immobilizer as well as be an auto but the auto bit I'm not fussed. It definitely has to be a bike as I'm not a fan of peds, but I am useless with bike knowledge so any more help would be appreciated

first of all the yamaha 125 and honda sr125 wont do 90mph lol try 70.

they are both 4 stroke abit sluggish compared to a 2 stroke. but obviosly the 4 sroke cheaper to run and bit more reliability.

tbh i would buy a decent second hand piaggio/gilera/aprilia 125 scooter.

will be faster than the 4stoke 125's, cheaper to insure.

or if you only want a bike not scooter get an aprilia mx125 or a aprilia rs125. the full power versions are 33bhp and are qucik for 125

Thanks the RS125 does look good but the price compared to the yamaha and honda is abit steep (speeds not an issue 70 sounds fine

). Would you say its worth getting a bike it as you seems you know abit for my daily commute and how safe would you say it is espeically at this time of year and any other advice you can give me.

i have just bought another bike but i like then not just purly becuase is cheaper than car. i like to ride them are fun

but can be abit dangerous this time of the year in the wet and obv maybe snow/ice just have to be carefull and have to be very aware while riding.

with these car drivers and everything LOL

but from what you have described just for daily comuting a few year old 4stroke 125 scooter would be the best option tbh. more protection to the elements than a bike and a good make few year old scooter will last.

could pick a good one up for around 800ish and get a years insurance for about 200 and 1k all in rather than buying a new bike for 2k

i'll be having a bike somtime, awesome but youve gotta be very very careful, after seing what some people are like with being on the back of my dad, never mind people in scoobies dont realise his will do 100 in 1st redlining

although since his got a plain white helmet so he gets more respect from people now is it a copper umh lol

The second one does look good Kyle, what would you recommend more, a manual or auto, for a newbie? I prefer something that looks more like a bike than a scooter due to it will look daft driving on the A2 road that is 3-4 lanes wide with a national sign with a scooter (I know I'm fussy but looks do matter as I would never be seen dead driving a KA!).

am not sure what else to recommend tbh.

if personal preff really for auto or manual if you happy riding a manual and changing gear you might perfer that or for the ease of an auto,

i went down the a1 on my scooter. some of their faces when overtaking in the middle lane on a scooter lol.

you have a look at the yamaha xt125? or even a honda xr125 ?

you will be best of having a go on a few bikes seeing what you like.
