replace gti xenons with 6000k ?
Figured i post this in this section as the gti boys n gals will know better.
Im running the oem gti lights at the moment and was wandering if anyones tried replaced the xenon bulbs with 6000k bulbs for a bit more blueness. Fancy doing it but not going to bother if it requires a ballast change and if the lights keep playing up
Did you change just the bulb itself or the ballast as well? As ive heard stories whereby the 6000k bulb causes problems with the original ballast. Hence meaning a change of ballasts.
Any suggestions on where to get a decent bulb from?

No problems at all!
and yes you just replace the bulbs, just dont buy cheap ones or you'll be buying new ballasts!

kool, yeh want to avoid the cheapy stuff.
Another question for alexperkins, do the 6000k bought of hids4u.co.uk still give that purpley/bluey look when looked at from an angle etc, (you know what i mean) e.g 4300k when looked at directly head on look whtie, but also give of a hint of blue at times dependant on the viewing angle
or is this caused purely by the projectors?

6000k bulbs from HIDS4U are fairly bluey white - definately, in my opinion, the best and most usable light and certainly the most stylish.
You get the purple blue look at an angle through the light refracting through the lens - its a dome so you will get different parts of the light spectrum bouncing off it.

on the left are the 8000k bulbs and on the right is the standard 4300k:

and here's 6000k in comparison. it provides a white light with a tinge of blue!

Yep I've got 6000k too, same ones as Alex. Just used the OEM ballasts, they work fine.
I should get paid for promoting this company! lol
