Yes mate, is for the side air vent one's as per my 1st post on the thread

eg like this but for polo....

If u can make one fair play, but I think you'd be lucky to achieve an OE like finish.
SWG clearly must mold the plastic parts somehow. Certainly beyond my ability to make though lol...

I could imagine me sitting in the garage after throwing my 'have a go vent' in the bin after i've cut and f***** up all the vent slats lol

Looking at the Polo vent, I bet as soon as slats are cut they'd all fall out like match sticks.

In case anyone was wondering, here's an air vent completely dismantled. Picked it up from the wreckers today to have a play with.

Hi Guys,
Ok quick update - SWG think this could be a goer! :)

They've got hold of a vent, taken it apart and are in the process of of fabricating a prototype (i've asked for preview pics once ready).

We've found that the vents from VW are expensive (£55quid+ for a GTI one), so it looks like SWG are looking at developing an insert to fit into our existing vent shell. This is good as -
1/ keeps the cost down as dont have to develop extra parts
2/ enables non GTI polo owners with black vents to use the part

More updates will follow...

Cheers

Dan

Hi Kenny,
I hear can be done DIY without much trouble... Gauges should come with fitting instructions anyway.

Don't quote me but i think a T-piece is used to tap into one of the hoses that goes to the N249 + some simple wiring for the gauge + illumination etc.

Prototype Pic's

Post by GTi_dan »

Guys,
Check this out!!!

I think it looks wicked, and will look even better in the GTI vent shell.
what's everyone else think?

(copy from email)
Hi Dan
After quite a few hours work here's a couple of rough low quality pics of the prototype Polo 9n2/9n3 gauge pod insert that's about 85% finished, let me know what you think ?
