alarm issue

Post by ben3486 »

Just got back and my alarm keeps going off :S. While driving down the m4 earlier the boot open light came on, then went dim and started fading in and out. Any ideas? Any one had this problem?! Are they maybe linked?!

Alarm im not sure about. Controller might be at fault.

The boot open light is due to microswitch in the boot lock. Mine did the same thing. Try taking the lock off, and squirting the switch with WD40 - if that doesnt work, get hold of a new switch.

Try your rear washer too - is it working?

Yeah the rear washer isn't squirting much either?! Does that cause a problem?

Ah that sound like your washer pipe has popped off. Get the boot panel off and pop it back on. Its short circuiting your boot switch with all the water :P

See my thread:

http://www.tigerstyle.co.uk/poloforum/v ... hp?t=38109

I bet your rear washer pipe is leaking onto to mircoswitch and knackered it. Disconnect it for the meantime and it will solve both issues - you just won't have the light in the boot come on.

Like I said in the other thread, I plugged mine back in a few weeks later and has worked fine since.

I thought it may be shorting out when I saw water in the catch the lock hooks onto. I'll check this out some time and prob just disconnect the switch. Stupid alarm keeps going off but this maybe because of water in the boot lock mechanism thing the alarm false tamper readings from the boot?

100% exactly the same problem i had, boot light fades and gets brighter and the alarm used to just go off at any random time. I just took the washer and wiper off that sorted the problem fine. Some people will choose to keep it on but i just think it tidies the back end up and its an incentive to wash my car when i cant see out
