Hi Everyone,

I have been checking out this sight for several weeks now and have finally decided to become a member. looks like a great site full of useful links & information.

My name is Ben and I purchased my Polo Gti 6n2 around 4 months ago now, just a couple of days after my 20th birthday. I have wanted one of these cars for some time but could never afford one. Luckily for me the price of the Gti's came down by around £1000-1500 in the space of a year and that made me get one.
I was looking at several 2001 Fiesta Zetec's but thank god a GTI came along.

Anyway, the cars a Black 3dr on a V plate, just covered over 54,000 original miles, all the extra's including full leather interior (black) with the heated seats. Great Little car. 8)

I have not done alot to it as of yet, other than purchase a new GTI front grill badge and fitted the red piping to grill but thats all so far. I have alot planned for the car in the next 6 months.
Firstly I would like to replace the original rims, they have become tarnished over the years which I know is common fault with these alloys, particularly the outer rim (I think their steel judging by the rust). Looking to upgrade to another nice set of BBS wheels but have not decided what to go for as of yet.
I plan to fit a BMC induction Kit, Stainless Steel Manifold (heatwrapped), REMUS Exhaust system and then have it Re-Mapped in the new year but I need to save some green queens first.

The Car needs lowering as the ride height is far too high on the standard set-up, so I will probably drop it 40mm and get some Eibach Springs. Considering getting the Seat Leon Cupra R Splitter but that will be the lot in terms of modifying, I want it to keep the standard look as they are great looking cars.
The back windows could do with tinting and I am looking into getting a 6N2 rear badge from ebay.de.
For some reason when I purchased the car both the front and rear GTI badges were missing, most likely taken by Kids.

I will post some pics up later this evening as I am in work at the moment. Dont have any great pictures because of the British weather but ill see what I have saved on my PC.

Welcome to the site mate. Black 3-door and leathers, can't go wrong 8)
And a V reg, must be a very early one!

Your plans sound good, what kind of style you trying to adopt with it?

What badge are you searching for from german ebay?

Cheers for the replies lads.

Im going for the German look really. I dont really want to change the look of the car too much, but just to make it stand out a little more.

The badge I am after is actually a "6N2" badge, I have only seen them available on the German Ebay. There doesnt seem to be any on there at the moment however. Its in the same style as the "POLO" badge. If you check out some of the Bodykits on the Ebay.de under Polo 6N2 you will notice that af ew of them have POLO 6N2 on the rear, instead of the UK cars either having GTI,TDI,1.0 etc.

I hope I can source one but they are pretty rare it would seem.

Has anybody got any good links for BBS alloys/Suppliers I have checked out some tuning sites but they only seem to have around 6 or 7 different varities.

Cheers

Cheers for the reply's.

Yeah I spent a while sourcing one with the full leather trim.

Since I was spending the money I had saved for a long time, I thought I might as well go all out. I wasnt keen on the standard seats either really.

Is it true they only imported around 1500 UK POLO 6N2 GTI's???

I live in North Wales and there doesnt seem to be any around here, the only one I have seen other than mine was a black one in Llandudno at a set of traffic lights.
There's a few 6N2's around here but no GTI's. Well very little 6N2 GTI's anyway, plenty of 9N3 models. I have seen more G40's to be honest and they are rare.

There is a North Wales BRISKODA Meet in January if anybody on here is interested, plenty of Fabia & Octavia VRS's going. I will be going in the GTI and I think there will be a few golfs, everyone is welcome if your interested.

Welcome to UK Polos matey :-)

Looks like you have some good ideas in the pipline for the Olop, am sure you will enjoy doing it all :-)

I see you noticed the major drop in price of late...slightly depressing for the current owners, but brilliant for new buyers lol :-)

Where are you based?

Cheers Chris,

Thats right, in September 2007 a good GTI was fetching £5000-5500 but you can now get a decent one for £3500 if your lucky.

Great news if your buying like you say, I wouldnt want to be selling at the moment mind.

Im based in North Wales.

Plenty of Sheep but not many Polo GTI's

Exactly, that's why it sucked that I bought mine Apr 07 for 5.5k. In 6 months it was worth a grand less.

You'd probably struggle to fetch 4.5k on any GTI at the mo Tim :(

I paid £4000 exactly for mine in August this year, I imagine it has lost £500 already in that time due to the credit crunch. I dont mind so much though because I have no intention of selling it. :D
Great time to buy a Polo at the moment though, I am sure their value will increase again but only time will tell.

Anybody have any idea how many 6N2 Gti's were brought to the UK, I heard it was only 1500 but have no proof to back that up?????????

Oh yeh, it's worth way less now. But I could picked it up a grand less 6 months after I bought it. That's looking back about a year now though.

Yeh there were about 3000 brought in.
