ARC->AVY

Post by kz »

Hello

What are differences between Polo Gti engine code ARC (10/99 - 4/00) and Polo Gti code AVY (5/00 - 10/01).

Maybe you know?

I had asked this question when I got my car and the difference I was told by VW is the the ARC engine is the unmodified engine without the CO2 restrictions, and that the AVY engine has a restriction therefore lowering CO2 emission and it comes in lower on tax too. Compare to the ARC engine which is on the high tax band.

Hope this helps.

The 2 different versions of GTI have any other differences apart from the engines? What about the safety belts? The one with the red belts is the old or the new one?

As far as I know there were 3 different safety (seat) belts:

Black
Black with Red Stitching
Red

Also there were 2 different types of HT Lead:

Black with Red Ends
Red with Red Ends

Later models also came with EDL (Electronic Diff Lock) as standard I think.

Guys I need your help,
I want to buy a GTI from luxemburg and bring it to GREECE.
I foud one, the engine is the AVY.
How can i make sure that the car has norms for EURO 4?
I have the papers of the car. The production date is 30-05-2000
Is there anywhere that i can give tha chassis number and learn what norm the car follows?
The car must follow the european union's guidance 98/69 in order not to pay big taxes at the customs.

I need help as saoon as possible.
THANKS
