High Revs on start

Post by pepitopinoy »

Hi guys!

Does any1 encounter this problem before? It just happens sometimes that i need to turn the engine off & on again to get the right revs(just below 1000). My temperature sensor is due for replacement tomorrow, is it the same thing that causes this problem?

Any advice?

Did you ever get to the bottom of this? Was it the sensor (and if so which one exactly?)

We've had a bit of a saga with our 1.2 (AZQ engine) and irregular idle/revving, after replacing a broken throttle body, thrust sensor and EGR valve we thought things were mostly settled, but just occasionally we find the car starting at a much higher rev level than normal (around 17-18) and taking a while to settle down, and yesterday it appeared to be idling at 10 on a few occasions. We're getting no warning lights (which we had before and which I'd expect if the throttle wasn't doing what the ECU thought it should), but no idea why this should be happening. Unless it's considered normal?

It does'nt happen again since the temperature control sensor was replaced. No warning lights on the dash although they have seen a fault when they diagnose it.
Symptoms noticeable: temperature meter on the dash is often times dropping to zero but returning to normal temperature again and happens any time.
Mechanic took around 15 minutes to replace it at £35 pounds.

Hope this helps

Hmm - okay. Not seen the temperature ever drop like that, but sometimes it seems to take a surprisingly long time to rise from cold (as in five solid minutes of driving later and it's only just getting off zero).
