In the last few days I have been randomly getting get three short beeps. I don't get a warning light on the dash or anything and it appears to come randomly.
I have had some undientified electrical faults recently, and the airbag light is permanently on on the dash (long story) but the beeping is new and seems to be unconnected. I had a look through the handbook and can't see anything in there.
Any ideas what it is?

Re: Unidentified beeping
Handbrake left on makes a set of beeps to remind you to take it off, but normally has a light.

Hmm, reckon I'd have trouble driving if the handbrake was on. Though I guess it could be a bit loose / damaged / whatever... ?alexperkins wrote:Handbrake left on makes a set of beeps to remind you to take it off, but normally has a light.

Does sound alot like the handbrake warning. does the bulb on the dash light up when you pull the handbrake up?

Re: Unidentified beeping
I think you guys might be on to something. On the way in to work this morning it was beeping more than ever. At first I thought it was happening whenever I hit a bump, but I don't think that is the case. And there were random yellow flashes on the dashboard which looked like the ABS light. Then at some point the ABS light AND the red handbrake stop light were flashing. But what was weird they didn't seem like real flashes - like real warning flashes - but kind of quick triggers, like if you just touched the brake pedal really lightly on an old car, it would sort of come on but not really. ANd the beeping and flashing were never in sync.
Which makes me thing it's an electrical fault, or some wiring error with the ABS / braking system. And what's more worrying is that it was recently serviced, so I think that this is possibly something else that the garage have buggered up - they replaced the rear brake pads, so I wonder if they bodged an ABS cable / sensor or similar when doing that?
I've ordered a vagcom off ebay, think I'll get a Hayne's book of lies as well, but if you guys can think of any really obvious things I could check, I'd be most grateful!
Cheers,
Matt
