clutch problem i think?

hi guys i was driving home last night, and while driving the gears were not going in smoothly and started to almost like force it into gear, i pulled over and noticed when i put the clutch down it makes a loud ticking noise, ive been told its the clutch but just want to make sure from you guys, anyone had any problems like this? help would be appreciated.

Does sound like the clutch. Does it make a clicking noise when stationary and the clutch is down?

only when the clutch is down is when it makes the clicking noise otherwise when stationery it doesnt.
