since then i have done the following

Thermostat
Coil pack
HT leads
Sparkplugs
Powerflow exhaust
2x Forté gas treatment
and much TLC

134.9 bhp not bad eh

Can I be sceptical and say ... its not a fair test... you used two different dynos..... I bet they are not all callibrated to the same standard!


Really interesting to see how the engine performs... I am suprised that the VVT does not give a more distinct mark on the graph.

Mouse i wouldnt jump to any conclusions, besides your on the money what your getting any way.

I had good reason to replace the thermo.

My car would not warm up to nominal temp. so when that was replaced, a noticeable improvement in power was regained.

My old exhaust was totally fooked, VW wanted £730 for a OEM one. So i opted to for the powerflow one.

I guess im just lucky.

PS notice how your peak power is later at 6500 rpm than mine, strange.

tegwin. for sure these results are not scientific. Maybe the old rollers were under reading, and the new rollers over reading. But some guys were getting bang on the money for what they were expecting. on both events!

Cool, well mine is ok so no need to replace it. I'll need to get my manifold and powerflow system done soon. Did you notice much difference before/after the changes?

I guess I was right in saying 150 BHP was achievable then without the use of uprated cams.

134.9 BHP is a good figure and if you add a heat wrapped race land manifold, BMC CDA & Engine Re-map I am pretty sure you could get 147-150BHP. Not bad eh? 160 + should be achieveable with cams

Not sure how much life you would take off the box but its only a gearbox at the end of the day.

What Mileage was the car on when tested if you dont mind me asking???

you know what....i really dont know exactly, but im guessing it was in 65k-70k area

Not bad at all, glad to see the engine is still going strong after the 90,000 miles mark.

Mine has just hit 57,000 miles now but is currently standard.

I am hoping the engines are good for well over 100K providing they are serviced on a regular basis.

Yeah I think thats a very fair estimate, I wouldnt be suprised if you got 12+ though.

Are you then going to have the car Re-mapped??? I think its worth doin for £200-50, and gains of 9-11 BHP are normally achieved on naturally aspirated cars.

Thats something I plan to get done this summer, a company in Lancashire called more BHP will do it for £185 which is very fair.
