Cambelt change procedure and tools

Post by tegwin »

Someone posted the official autodata GTI cambelt change procedure with drawings etc in it... I cant for the life of me find it... Does anyone have a copy of it they could email me?

Are there any specific tools I will need to do the job?

Im intending to replace both cambelts and the alternator belt along with the waterpump and tensioners.

When it gives a tool part number.... what does that actually refer to... is that a VW tooling number, or can I actually aquire those tools somewhere?

Or use a bolt instead lol

No worries mate.

I have no idea sorry. I'm guessing it's reference to standard tools that you can use. You just need someone who can translate it!

I'd definitely do the small one located in the middle with the plastic surround, because this happens:

Ouch... thats not pretty!

Might as well do all of them.... think there are three? 1 for the main belt, 1 for the smaller belt and 1 for the fanbelt?

I'm not 100% sure, this one is from the main belt though.
