Buy new battery....

Open bonnet

Get a 10mm spanner...

Undo battery connectors...using 10mm spanner

Undo bolt on front of battery at bottom with a long 13mm socket..

Lift off battery..

Refit new one in reverse of above...

Time taken.... 10 mins provided you have average co-ordination :)

Hi, thanks for the info - My battery has what looks to be some kind of fuse box connected to the positive terminal, attached to the battery by a metal plate (it's a completely standard car so should be the same for anyone else). I was hoping to get information about what is required to remove it / if there is anything I should know etc.

Just unscrew the main bolt and slide the whole plate off

Also, bear in mind that if you have the original factory radio, you may well need the radio code to reactivate it if the battery has been removed.
