that was probably the most disturbing thing that I've ever had done.
It was the pressure he had to use on my mouth. and the driling, and the sawing....
Then the two CRACKS when he split the tooth into 4 parts to get it out.
My face is numb, from my chin to the top of my ear.
I'll try and get a pic later!!
more mouth modifications today...
I'll be the first to dare you to eat something with rice in it tonight.
Go on!! Consider it a challenge!*
But, seriously, I had pretty much the same thing. First they scare you with wanrings about damage to the nerves, then they build up your confidence with statements like "I haven't seen once this bad before" and "we really shouldn't have started you on one like this" (to the trainee nurse). Oh, so much fun. Add in the shattering sounds as his puts that huge feck-off tool thingie into the vertical slice he's just cut through the tooth and the bit where he reassembles the bits of the tooth back together on your chest and then - to cap it all - the bill for £120.
The worst's over now though...
Do you have stitches? - if so don't play with them! My guy stitched the inside of my cheek into my gum - didn't have a clue until it came time to get them out!! Still got the scar on the inside of my cheek two years later!!
Good luck getting better - soup, icecream and iboprofen(sp?) for the next week.
Oh yes, and have they mentioned what they'll probably do to the one above/below the empty space?
Deek
(I don't recall any sawing though -- maybe you've had it worse -- if so, then
)

yeah, thats pretty much how it went.
he had to open the gum up, and the did a diagonal cut across the top of the tooth, then with all his force on it he snapped the top bit off... this I felt to the back of my head... really not pleasant... then he had to cut the tooth diagonally the other way and again he had to prize it out. I though he'd broken my jaw at one point.
So the tooth eventually came out in 4 pieces. The two bits that he chopped and snapped off, anf the two legs of the root.
I now have 2 or 3 stitches in my gum, but luckily they will disolve after 2 or so weeks...
When I got in there to start with, he gave me all the worst case senarios(sp??) which included the tooth infront splitting due to the force he would need to put on it to prize the wisdom tooth out, and another was hitting the main nerve that runs along the jaw to the bottom lip and front teeth... he said it would be similar to hitting your funny bone in your elbow, but the sensation could last either days, weeks, or months.
He did at the end say that the way he had to remove my tooth was the worst way that it could be done. Oh good.
My T-shirt was wringing wet when I came out. I left a dirty big sweaty patch on the chair, and the front of my shirt was all sweaty too!!
I think I may have punched his assistant!! The first time he cracked the tooth, it made such a horrible noise, and he stabbed the side of my tongue, that I flinched really badly!! Having my eyes shut I didnt see his assistant leaning over me, and think I wacked her in the side!!! As it goes she was quite an attractive girl, and at one point she did brush her breast along my chin as she reached over to get more nasty instruments!!! Kinda made it worth it!!
The funny thing is though, that I went back out to reception where my mum was (didnt fancy driving myself home) and about 10 minutes later the assistant came out.. I'd completely forgotten about my glasses and had left them in the room!!!! heheheh

Man, that must have been BAD.
I haven't had any problems with my wisdom teeth (my dentist told me we should leave them well alone) but I recently had two fillings done after 10 years without going to the dentist, and my tongue was numb for weeks after that because of the anesthetic (is that how it's called? I'm losing my English over time).
About going out for drink with the dental nurse after having a wisdom tooth removed... well, let's just say we don't look that attractive after such a procedure.

Lets see, had various "extra" teeth out (proper number in my head but a small jaw), braces to reset all the other ones (didnt work so well, my mouth is a mess
), and recently a goddamn cavity on the SIDE of a molar... yknow.. the one right at the back, just before the wisdoms. Had to get a new dinky-size brush to stop it happening the other side. On top of that the wisdom teeth are coming thru in what can only be described as a downright bizarre manner.
This, however, sounds awful by comparison.
Lie back and think of breasts (or whatever's enough to transport you elsewhere for an hour).......

EDIT - yeah i made the stupid mistake of posting this without realising there was 2 pages
At least you're thru it now... just years of agony and your mouth feeling "not quite right" to deal with
