i do indeed drive a mk5.... also a 1 litre..... i did think the the starters would be built in.... im thinking maybe int he near future get some hids for my full beams to. be fitting my hids tomorrow then the led's when they come. just about to order them now... i didnt think about getting leds in the angel eyes but now ive seen u done it i know it can be done so im gonna do it....

i dont have the fog lights tho... im actually making a new front bumper which has the fog light grills smoothed out n e way.

but am beginning to quite like fog lights now... thinking about getting some aftermarket ones and seeing about building them into the bumper at a later stage.

Yea brilliant driving a 1 litre honest lol I really like the car just wish the engine was bigger. If I was you I’d install the HID’s and LED’s together it saves having to remove and replace the front bumper and headlights twice. I ordered from ultraleds on a weekday morning they arrived next day not sure what it would be like at weekend though.

im not fussed about removing the bumper all the time. i'll try to do it without removing the bumper and lights but those led's are a, umm, annoying thing to change due to theyre loaction....

if i get the hids done tomorrow at least my lights will be brighter.

i know wat u mean about the car tho. its nice to drive just slow. altho for a 1 litre it is pretty fast. my mum has a mk4 1.3 and it seems nippier then that. but my gf has a 1.4i, i think 16v and it goes well.... how a 1.4 16v engine would be good....

oh well when i get a new job i'll get a new car with a bigger engine.

You should be able to get away with not removing the bumper to fit the HID’s however it may be a little harder, if I remember rightly someone said it’s like working through the gap on a closed door lol. I’m in the same boat as you waiting for more cash to come along so I can get a car with a bigger engine, think I’m going to stick with a polo though there like a golf but lighter i think.

Looking good m8, there allot brighter than filament bulbs aren’t they. How did you damage the rear door + arch?

I can’t see you being disappointed with them, the light from my headlights at night used to be s*#t until I got HID’s

Strut bent, bent wishbone and driveshaft dis lodged could all relate to the huge negative camber. i would've thought all of these would be pretty obvious to a mechanic though?

Cheers Tim, my mechanic is putting it down to my hub now he has changed the track rod + end so I hope this solves the problem. Reason I was asking, he hadn’t looked at the car fully and I just wanted a rough idea of what the problem may be.

Kipper I knew you would like them there a massive improvement on halogen same goes for the LED’s

Hi, Im new and have damaged my track rod and end. I was just wondering how much it cost you to have these replaced as I saw that you have. Also, do you know if it is an easy DIY job or not? Thanks. Sorry about your accident aswell.

It cost me about £75 for a track rod and end new from VW, I was also quoted £170 for a new front hub, but luckily I’ve found one in a local breakers yard

Ah right cool. That's not to bad. Although being a student means that it just another pain. Is there anywhere else to get the parts do you know or do only VW do them? Thanks.
