I changed mine to an audi s-line one. Changed the gaiter last week aswell, i'll get some pics soon.
Its quite hard to get the original gear knob off and with the gaiter its just a case of un-picking the staples from the surround and piercing the new leather gaiter, puttin the staples back through and thats about it!

How do you get the knob off? Been wanting to change mine for ages now as I lost the bit on the top that shows you the gear lay out.

Right, first you release the gaitor by unclipping the plastic frame from the centre console, then lift this up and over the gear knob, then using maybe two small screwdrivers, ease open a bit the crimped click that secures the gear knob to the stick, then pull this compete assembly up off the stick. Do not just cut this clip as you might want to reuse it - replacing this clip with a jubilee clip will mean that the jubilee clip will eventually cut through the leather gaitor. If its only the gaitor you need to replace then as said you need to retrieve the frame by removing the staples, by its easier to fit the new gaitor to the frame using strong thread+a large needle+pliers! The knob is not usually available on its own from VAG - just this complete knob+gaitor assembly, replacement leather gaitors can be bought from ebay.
