Electric Window stopping

Post by neilw »

Can somebody confirm that this sounds like a problem with the Window regualtor.

Driver side is fine. But passenger side won't go up or down using either switch. You can here relays click when the buttons rea pressed.

If it is the regulator, are they a generic part, ie Can I get one out of any 6n2 polo, I'd imagine there not Gti specific. All if you read this BBSPolo do you have nay in you massive Gti parts clear out?

Pop the door card off and have a look inside... see if there is any reason why it might not want to move..

I would also consisder plugging a multimeter into th wiring and check that you get a suitable signal when you push a button...

I now have the same problem :(

When i bought it the passenger window wouldnt move at all. but i could hear something click when i pressed the button.

the drivers side now is goneish.
it started when i pulled the window up last week and it decided to go straight back down. got it up eventually, when i pull it down is ok but going back up its slow. dont think its the regs is it doesnt seem to knock forward or backward.

any ideas?

Im gonna pop off the door panel today so ill post what i see.

cheers

Hi Guys

Well after a few hours spent on the car today it was so worth it :)
Saved my self 600 euro, as that was what i was told from the motor factors over here, ah the motors are gone..
Ill post a few pictures. Sorry if i have posted too many pics but just thought it might help someone.

Basically on the drivers side it was like as if the bracket that is screwed onto the window that is attached to the pulley came off.
i put it back on and it just comes back off if i close the door with the window open. if its closed its ok. If anyone has any ideas on how i can fix this please let me know, i didnt think super glue would hold it :) Ta.

On the passenger side i ended up trying to take out the motor and rails. It was a little difficult and i was afraid of breaking the glass.
So i just decided to pop off all of the screws holding the motor to the little gearbox and pulled it out a little and that seemed to free it up.
Worked great after that.

By the way, take care when taking off the door panel, have patience, I unscrewed the 1 screw beside the tweeter speaker. Then on the door handle (inside) you will need a small flat head screw driver and pry open the cover on the front. in there their are 2 screws, take them out.
then on the bottom of the panel gently pop out the door panel it just pops out. follow that all around the door frame. I found that i had to gentley lift the door panel up.

And for the underlay underneath the door panel i used a sharp stanley knife to slit the glue that holds it onto the door, be care full not to scrape the paint.

Well after all this hard work i treated it to a nice shampoo wash :)

Cheers Guys

John

The way to fix the bracket is to get the mount for a headboard on a bed (no joke!) and a washer, and self tapping philips screw.

You put the screw through the washer, then the headboard mount, then put that on the back of the bracket for the glass, and screw the screw into the broken plastic mount on the mechanism - sorted ;)

Ie one of these:

It goes where the finger is on the right hand side, and screws into the bit on the left hand side
