New member from West Cumbria.

Hi there,
I'm new. Like the other newbie from Glasgow, I've been reading the forum for a while but only just decided to sign up.
Hmmm well what to say.. I'm 20, female obviously, I live in West Cumbria. Probably no where near you's lot (North West) and I'm a big VAG fan.
So since I passed my test in 2007 I've owned 4 cars - Corsa C derv, Mk4 Golf GTTDi 130, 106 derv runabout, and now my '01 Silver Polo GTi, 3 door. I had been after one for a while and seen as though I killed the runabout on the M6 last year one of the local garages had the Polo in, I had to take it off their hands. Bought it back in September last year, and there's no doubt about it that it puts a smile on my face everytime I drive it - When it works. The car had just over 58k on when I bought it but now the miles have mounted up seen as though I do 70 mile a day to work and back

So as I am at work at the moment I'm unable to upload pics but I will do later when I get home. Nothing special about it, totally standard, as most of my money has been spent on getting it back on the road. If I never loved it so much it would've been sold ages ago. I actually had the problem with the Polo last year - Was juddering and loosing power, done a search on here and changed the HT leads and all is well now. Whoop.

So yeah, that's me. Good site here and I hope to meet some of you soon

Car sounds good, don't see many 2001 cars about (most of them are 2000 I think?). Good to know the forum is working and that you could find hte info required to fix your car's juddering issues without resorting to hefty garage bills

Any plans to modify anything in the future? I kept my car standard for over two years before I changed anything

Thanks! I've noticed you're a very friendly bunch here like.

The HT lead problem was a doddle, pleased I never had to shell out loads. I'm thinking the gearbox and clutch are on it's way out. there's a whining noise, which I assume is coming from the gearbox.

But aye, I have the usual plans - Coilies (FK AK Supertech?), wheels (Borbet A's - Pure sex). I have the black badges in place just need the time to split the rear and spray the back silver. Also have some new sidelights, just having some difficulty finding all the screws ha. Work in progress like.
I think the GTi looks well the way it is, other than my very corroded wheels but I've heard that this a common problem so doesn't bother me as much. I also plan on moving the CD changer to under the seat, because I'm lazy and it does my nut in

I know what you mean about that CD changer I removed mine and fitted an in-dash 6CD changer from the Bora/Golf/Polo 9N (cost about £100 at the time). Then, after removing all the kit and installing an Alpine head unit, removed the CD changer completely and connected my iPod!

Welcome to the site Emma! Nice car you have there. Are those tyres 195/50s? You may encounter a fair amount of scrubbing issues with them when trying to find a decent stance. The standard profile is 195/45

And has anyone moved the autochanger to under the seat? Would quite like to do it as it takes up a hefty space in the boot!

I'm sure it wouldn't be that hard. It's only secured by a few mounting bolts and one wire. Remove the unit and mounting bracket, and dig up the wire. then simply re-position under the seat. Check there's sufficient space there first though.

There isnt enough space under the GTI seats due to the height adjustment mechanism
