Speedo

Post by iggy350 »

Hi
I just come back from London, after following my brother. We went thru a 50mph zone with them annoying Average speed check cameras, anyone around Nottingham will know the zone on the M1 im on about hehe

Well I was in front of my brother and I was keeping my speedo on 50 the whole time through. When we pulled into the services he asked me why i went through there at 40mph, seems like a big mph difference.
Anyone else have this problem? I know VW like to give a 3-4 mph on their speedos but a full 10 mph at low speeds seems like a lot. It worth taking to a garage to get recalibrated, if thats even possible?

Check your brother didn't calculate your speed wrong first, it's a very loose way of suggesting your speedo is out. If your worried go and test it.

Well who's to say it is at all. You may have slowed down to just under 50mph, and your brother had to slow down to 40 to compensate for the gap between your cars. As i said if your really worried about it, take the car out with a few friends and test it off a few different cars to get an average.

Or, use a portable Sat Nav which can display your speed.

There's a speed channel in the daignostics display on the climatronic system also, just remembered. I'm not sure whether or not the speedo will differ from this if it's out, I would assume they'd be the same. but it's worth a check.

Look at this video for how to get to it.

It's channel 16, press AUTO and ECON at the same time to view MPH not KMPH.
