Post by sorted »

I need one of these for my GTI.... will anyone from a Mk5 do the job? 1.0, 1.2, 1.4 etc?

Does anyone know the part number?

Basically - will this work : http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2001-Polo-ABS-Pum ... 240%3A1318

Or this :

I don't know much about the ABS system. But the first link looks similar.

99% of the time, it is NOT the pump that fails, it is the control unit underneath the pump.

The control unit gets so hot in the engine bay that the solder becomes weak and causes a malfunction error causing the ABS light to stay on.

Here is a pic of my control module that i replaced:

You do not even have to take the pump out of the car to replace the controller module, dont even have to bleed the brakes. Its a simple unplug, unscrew, remove, put new one in, screw up, plug in. 15 minutes tops.

Hope that helps you a bit

Yeah I was thinking this - but most of the pumps come with the control unit? Its that signal out of bounds type error im getting on VagCom - so you are probably right in saying its the control module!
