When did you do a major service like fuel filter, plugs etc as this helped mine a lot and was quite noticable in terms of the mpg increase afterwards.

polo gti isnt amazing for mpg but its not terrible either....

If im doing long distance driving, mainly motorways and A roads.. i get about 310-330 from a full tank.

If im doing normal driving which is country roads and traffic driving in towns i usually get 290'ish from a £40 full tank.

My car hasnt been serviced in like 10,000 miles either.

Ive had 420 out of a tank in the GTI. Full motorway stretch mind you, and was minding the speed/revs

Generally speaking, about 300 per tank is right for me.

I can't remember the last time I put a full tank in. I get about 40miles on a £10, pretty much all town driving.

I've done from just outside Barry to newcastle (334 miles) sat at about 85 to 90 mph and when I get there I have just under quater of a tank left every time. Reading some of your comments makes me feel bit happier about my GTi now. Completely standard tho. On the down side in the last two months its had a mental misfire and no power. First was the leads. 64£ from VW! Then on friday the coil pack went. I had two AA trucks looking at it and a third one going to unipart in cardiff to get the coil pack and bring it over and fit it.....value for money when theres three trucks running round after you. The coil pack was less than the leads too which shocked me a bit. Only 57£. Even more shocked that unipart in cardiff has 6 coils for the GTi sat on their shelves lol.

I've had 2 new leads so far... One per month  £14.20 for one from my local VW.
