08:20am today, Clapham, Beds
I'm doing 20-25 mph on straight 30mph road - just a few hundred yards from work.
BMW pulls out of left-hand side street in front of me - to turn right (across me)

Passenger front corner impact
Pushed me across the road and into a concrete post (drivers side)

Passenger airbag went off
both headlights smashed
both wings mullered
passenger door mangled
1 alloy with quite deep gauges
crease on bonnet
washer bottle smashed
Oil leaking underneath
= one pi**ed off Charlie!

3rd party admitted full liability (and to the cops)
Witness given details
Got towed away and awaiting outcome but there's a fair chance of a write-off
(his need painted bumper and front plate - that's it)

Bright side - he was insured
I'm ok. Stiff neck and friction burn on my wrist but nothing major
(i'll see if that's still the case when I try and move tomorrow morning!)

Yeah, not sure what'd be best at the moment.
I'm just concerned that I won't get a reasonable price back.
They seem to value at around £8k on my spec/mileage etc but I doubt i'd get offered that so kinda hoping it might get repaired.
Forgot to mention - looks like passenger pillar (by door hinges) is bent inwards a fair bit and theres slight creasing by wing in engine bay - but not sure how the rest will be structurally.

I love the thought but there's just no way I could afford it - or the insurance!

Fingers crossed that if it's not getting repaired, then i'll get a reasonable price and I can start looking.

I went to A+E and i've got a bit of whiplash which I didn't really feel until an hour or so afterwards - adrenalin and shock combo me thinks!

Really gutted for you Charlie. A similar thing happened to me in my previous polo, if only some people would be more careful on the road.

Main thing is, that you can walk away safely from it. I was really enjoying your progress too.
