Thanks for the info.
It was only the passenger seat air bag that went off though - does the same outcome apply? No split dashes here!
I'm clinging onto any hope of her being saved! lol

**UPDATE**
Repair centre have contacted me this afternoon and given me a 'ball-park' figure of just under £5k for repairs.
Average sale value (according to eBay, Parkers etc) is around £8.5 to £9k so its still a pretty borderline verdict.
My insurers tell me that they usually make wrie-off decisions around 60% repair cost to value of vehicle.

I was quite surprised that the resale value was that good but I guess at less than 2 years old and under 15,000 miles on the clock, its a great value! Good ol VW's hold their prices! She was mint too, boo-hoo

It's been passed through to the insurance to make a decision so hopefully I'll hear something early next week.
In the meantime - keep the diesel corsa courtesy car :x

Airbags deploying causes alot of head work with saftey gear and all that like deploying motors and pyrotechnics get involved, But i think it may get written off at that figure mate, it always goes up as it only a ball park figure,

Would u feel happy driving it around again knowing whats happened as paint and edges, gaps of door shuts might differ from original!!!

I still don't know what the insurance company is going to value it at but i'll keep fingers crossed.

I really can't decide what would be the best outcome

 I'd be sooo sad to see her go after all the work and it'd be hard to get something at the same price that i'd be satisfied with. If I stayed with Polo's, then i'd just get a like-for-like and have to start all over again and paying out all over again.
 On the other hand, Trotta has a good point. I wonder if it'd all be the same, all match up perfectly etc.

Thanks for all your kind comments guys and for sharing in my frustration!

Going to send a copy of this to the insrance company to try and prove good condition and to help push for the best valuation possible

Damn...

Sorry to hear about that Charlie...the car was mint too. But as said before, it's never too bad as long as you're ok. Cars can be repaired and replaced, lives are worth a lot more. Hope you get it sorted out soon and the insurance company doesn't mess about.

Good luck.

That is just typical some t**t in a Bmw not caring and nearly writes you off as well as the car, I would be seriously pissed off and would fight for compensation for wiplash you should get at least 2 k for your injury, (get yourself down to the quaks for painkillers etc. ) which will go towards your next car. Looking at the pictures I would say the car is en route to the big car park in the sky my friend shame cos you can see the work that had been put into her and it is in my favourite colour for the polo.

As the rest have said metal can be replaced....... YOU CAN'T

Thankfully the car did what it was designed to do on impact PROTECT AND CONTAIN THE PEOPLE INSIDE THE CAR.

Good Luck

Hopefully you will get a good price from them. Don't accept the first offer as this is usually a test the water figure and normally well off where they know the car is valued at.

below was written as I was on a roll so will leave for info for anybody else in a similar predicament.

Just for info my friend if your car is going to be written off. Contact the repairer that has given the quote. this will allow you to calculate what the insurance company writes the car off at. If you are with Guardian royal exchange or guardian then they writeoff at 75% of the cars value. So if the repair was coming in at 4.5k then the car is worth 6k+ poss 200. I had a fight with gre a while back when My car got hit head on by some clown going through a red light. the car repair got to 4.5k and they refussed to go further . They offer 5.5k not realising I worked for an insurance company at that time and was able to fight the price up and ended up at 6600 and 2 k for my back.

You can call the company direct and ask at what percentage do they class a car as a write off and you will then have some idea of what your car is worth. Add on the cost of new tyres point out the car was immaculate no scratches etc all helps.
