Funny noise
Just wired in all my speakers and amp. The only problem i have had is that when i connect the rca cable from head unit to amp for the door speakers, they work fine but when i turn the key i get a funny noise like a high pitched frequency, it goes away but when i start the engine it comes back and stays there. I have disconnected it for now but does anyone know what it could be or had any problems? Cheers Jezza.
Re: Funny noise
hi i had the same problem, i found out its feedback for the alternator, really simple to fix. you need a alternator suppressor. you can pick them up from halfords for £4

the brown wire is the live and to earth it attach the body to a bolt in the engine bay.
just remember to disconnect the battery first!
i also got one of these but on ebay much cheaper

ill take a photo of it tomorrow.

Re: Funny noise
im from billericay, near basildon. got a 6n polo in canon red.
so as promised, here's where i put my suppressor
the orange circle is the suppressor just hooked under a nut on the alternator to earth it, and the red circle is the live feed i had to use more cable as what i got was to short.
i also earthed my head unit too, as i was to believe that this could have something to do with it as well. i used to have it going straight to the battery but then read its not a good idea to have a long earth cable, as the more cable there is the further the current has to travel.
this is where i bolted the earth wire to, the hole is already there just behind the passager airbag/glovebox

so thats what i done, i still have a noise but you can only hear it when the volume is turned to zero, buts its quite faint, it doesnt bother me.
anyways heres a few sites that should help anyone else with the same problem
