The GT returns...

Post by Krupa »

Smoother, shinier and minter than ever and sporting it's first (minor) custom bodywork. :D

People let me out wherever I go, and it's blinding when the sun catches it. My hands were actually shaking with excitement when I first saw it, it's NEVER looked so good!

Only a few minor details to be sorted before I unleash it on this year's batch of show and shine events. It's got to be done really. 8)

nice one Alex. It looked pretty damn nice the last time I saw it (action last year?).

I'll look forward to seeing the new & improved minty at inters.

I'm sure he said it won't be at inters.. but I hope it is!

Yeah, as said, it was looking hot last time I saw it.. Think it's the mk3 I took most pics of last year at Inters..

If not Inters, when's its debut??

I'm giving nothing away, it's very subtle anyway but I always noticed that it was something I wanted to get rid of. It's gone now! Ha Ha Ha!

I'm so glad I've gone the whole hog, having done 15,000 motorway miles last year the engine's in lovely condition but the bodywork was getting really tatty. It's so shiny now I can't believe it myself. It's MUCH shinier than it was at Inters last year, and that grey has really come out well.

Since it left the bodyshop it's been to Bristol and back, to pick up another part of the little makeover it's been steadily having since Action last year. It's something reasonably obvious, but subtle at the same time.

The finished article is due to be unveiled at BVF this year. Don't expect it to look drastically different because you'll be disappointed. Does look very smart though if I say so myself. I've been steadily gathering parts since last November (before my accident) and it's almost done but not quite. It's got a few niggles left to sort, but it's so close!

I'm bricking it that some t**t with a screwdriver's going to attack it again before it gets to a show. So I've got lots of pictures, but they're staying on my PC, at least until I get too excited to keep them to myself!

Can't wait to see it Alex! Have you had the seam on the rear quarters filled? Is that the minor mod?

I'm really excited about this too. Alex I can't wait to see your car mate I'm sure it'll look a minter. It was a truely amazing car before but now it should be a show winner. I want mine re-spraying but its prices and your always gambling when you have a re-spray you never know what can happen.

Yeah Alex, I REALLY can't wait to see the car! As you know I've loved your car for nearly 3 years, even in the "state" you said it was in!

As soon as you get pics, send them my way!

Cheers for the compliments, but you didn't see it just before it went into the garage. It was a real mess, believe me.

Haven't smoothed out the lines below the back lights, though I did think about it. As they follow the lines of the rear light I thought they'd be fine left as VW intended.

What I have done is a very subtle mod, but it makes the affected part look neater.

LOL @ hungry rottweilers! yeah that's not a bad idea!

I'm excited about taking it to its first show too, give it the usual TLC beforehand and get it looking really clean again. I've driven around 100 miles since I got it back, so it's not as clean any more.
