coilover help

hi after some help. had a god awful day replacing the console bushes - what a nightmare to get out. got them done and moving on to the coilover. got some coilover from ta technics and not sure if the correct ones have been sent. i have a 2003 polo 1.9 tdi (100bhp) and this is what i got.

got some new top mounts and top mount bearing trouble is with the aluminium top on the coilovers there is not enough thread on the top of the strut to put the nut on. taking off the aluminium top off and the tops mount etc fit but the spring doesnt seem to sit right.

i can get he aluminium cone machined so it fit around the shaft of the strut but not not sure if that is the ideal way forward. or am i just being thick and missed something obvious.

any help, comments, suggestion would be great as i need to get this done by saturday!!

Its not you i had the exact same problem, These coilovers really are budget. I fitted mine to the car without the aluminium caps after being reassured by a friend of my dad whos a mechanics that it wont slip, but dont quote me on that

im trying to look into machining the cone myself so itl fit but let me know how u get on with this

you'vee got the same coilovers as me, i had to file alway round the inside of the cone for it to slide up and down the steel pole with the thread on the end, didnt take too long to do as its a soft aluminium but i got mine to fit perfect, no problems at all.

right got these machined and now a perfect fit. nice and low now with about 30mm ride height!

How far down did u guys machine/file it away by?

i did it so it would slide down the steel shaft but with no gap, the steel shaft only just fits through it

had it machined out to 22mm so fits on the shaft. a local guy charged £5 for doing it and it took about 10mins.
