I just read today a magazine, to be exactly a Mexican Made magazine, and it shows the polo GTi with 1.8t

Is there any picture? Can you scan it and post here? :)
Anyway, I'd prefer the 1.6FSi Turbo that was discussed here, but the 1.8T isn't a bad engine... How many bhp's? 180? 150?

225!? Wow! Leave that for the Polo R32 or something! :D
I think they will stay at 150 or at the most 170-180, becouse if don't, there would be a too big jump from the 1.4 16V 100 to the GTi, don't u think?

There are 1.8Ts and there are 1.8Ts.

What I mean is, the LCT's 225 1.8T is not (mechnically) the same engine as the Ibiza FR's 150 1.8T.

You can't take a 150 and expect to chip it to 225 without encountering problems. I'm not up to speed with the various engine designations, but I do know that there are a variety of 1.8T's out there. Some variation due to manufacturing changes over time (as you would expect), but also variation due to the different power ouputs. Some 1.8Ts have weaker components in them than others - bottom ends, pistons, conrods - sort of thing, er...

I can recall reading about this on vortex, but - like I say - I don't know the 1.8T in detail, so I can't tell you what is chipable to what else, but I can tell you that everything *isn't* chipable to everything else (if you see what I mean...)

So, anyway, even if the GTi is announced with a 1.8T in it (I personally think it will be the 1.6FSI/T (esp. as the MKv Golf GTI will be a 2.0FSI/T)), don't assume that you'll be able to chip it to the higher power levels.

Deek.
