hand brake looking cheap?

hey guys,
i was wondering, don't you think the standard hand brake looks too cheap when it's pulled up? especially the lower part, where the plastic is not supported.
Does anyone know if the hand brake for gt/special with the leather and the stitching looks any better? is it leather all the way down or just the first "hand" section? I'm thinking of buying the gearknob and the hand brake for gt/special now that they're available for our "modest" 9n's!!

I have to say that I think it's stupidly cheap. Infact it's a terrible design!!

On most Polos (9n) that I have seen, the handbrake cover raises up higher than the flush sides where it slides down meaning that you can stick fingers into the hole... This is DANGEROUS! imagine a child sat in the front seat with his belt on.. he pust his hands down, resting on the plastic mouling and then you drop the handbrake *chop* go his little fingers!

The plastic on the bottom of the cover is SHARP too. I my case I had to get a garage to adjust the handbrake so that it didn't lift soo high to be fully engaged, though this seems to have been slipping again and again I can almost fit my hand through the gap now.

I fully agree with that. It looks really cheap. I ordered my polo with the leather package and it only includes the "hand" part of the hand brake.
And, what is worst, the plastic ring next to the button has fallen 2 times and I had to glue it

Really bad being a Volkswagen!

I had this on my old car, but considering how often I actually use it, (the handbrake) I don't really have a problem with it.

Perhaps I've been blessed second time around, but I seem to have been landed with a 9n that doesn't rattle, break down or have any minor faults. Apart from the washer bottle and updated ECU software i've been absolutely fine. The 48-58mpg I can now get with the chip has only sweetened the deal
