Short Shift

Post by neilGTI »

I am thinking of getting a B&M short shift for the polo, i just need to clarify a few things before i get one though, if anyone can help please:

.: The one i need is: B&M 45106

.: What is the mod you have to do (something about drilling a hole and inserting split pin ???)

.: Is there any installation instructions on this forum ? (I know there used to be some on the old forum but i cant find it on here)

.: Are they easy(ish) to fit ?

I have used the search facility but it only links me back to topics on the old forum :(

the one you need is a golf vr6 audi a3 ibiza cupra one. i dont have the exact number available anymore.

i organised a group buy a while back, which i beleive ended up buying the few left in the uk so you may have difficulty finding one

no mods are required to install it. you just have to remove the old and fit the new.

there is a guide in the diy guides somewhere, but they do come with somewhat useable instructions

as for ease of fitting, you have to remove the center console which involves a relative amount of dash removal on the lower side, but its not too hard.

After searching this forum and other forums, I have finally found the fitting instructions for the B&M shifter and have uploaded them here:

Easy-ish to fit. See my DIY guide in the relevant section (though some of the pics have gone missing which I no longer have on my comp). It's definately a worthwhile mod

Very easy to fit. Just a case of following the instructions.

Here's a guide for it:

The only annoying bit is getting the original pivot rod out, with persuasion it does come out though!

Not sure if you will find anyone who has enough to do a group buy.

Mine took a whole month from when i ordered it to turn up, personally i think he was struggling to find one as it came via another company in the end.
