Swapping door cards

Post by Aries »

Hey just wondering

I got a red 5 door version, and it's pretty sexy, but I've always loved the look of the red door cards, and mine is a later model (right?) that doesn't have them.

Is there anywhere I can purchase the door cards from, maybe VW themselves? Also, they will fit right?

Red door cards came on black and silver models - for some reason not on many if any reds at all. If you can get hold of a 5 door set, its a straight swap.

It was probably that, but I don't think so. Think about your red interior on your GT1. That wasn't too much

I just took a trip to VW and asked how much the red door cards would be! £126 PER DOOR CARD

Surely thats not for just the red bit only, and he thought I meant for everything?

Thats per complete door card possibly without the handle. These parts are scarce, and the price reflects this. Scrapyard I think! or just get yours retrimmed.

Yeah I'm thinking of popping the bit that needs red out, retrimming and putting it back in.

Has anybody here had any experience with getting them out? How is that red part connected to the rest?

You cant just pop it out - its plastic welded into the door and the covering is melted onto it :(

Yep or I would've done something about mine along time ago! I don't really like the red door cards, I'd love to do something to them. But it's hard without doing the whole card.
