wow the thread has grown 8) thanks for all the input guys!
Has anyone in Europe ever attempted working the head of a 1.9tdi???
Regarding boostpipes we have found that there are some bottlenecks in the system especially regarding the turbo-outlet pipe which runs to the fmic inlet

Check the link below regarding the bottleneck, this would apply to all vw turbo engines. pd100 pd130 even polo gti and 1.4tdi. The guys who's car it is, is a local south-african vw genius. Heck he works at vw. have a look at the link all the info is there 8)

To address an earlier post, 220 BHP on a stock PD150 turbo is pushing it a LOT. That's hybrid turbo area. Also, PD150 turbos have completely different characteristics to PD130s. PD150s have more lag low down, but pull quite hard higher up in the rev range. The opposite is true for the PD130. A stock PD130 engined car will beat a PD150 off the lights, but after 100 MPH, the PD150 will excel...it'll pull all the way past 4.5K RPM and approach 5k, wheras the PD130 struggles to go past 4k RPM in higher gears. That's from personal experience driving both variants of Bora and from what I've read.

Also, PD130/150 injectors don't flow more than 200 BHP, so there's no point in adding hybrid turbos like a GT17/22V unless you get even bigger injectors. Without a FMIC, the most you'll get from a PD130 turbo is circa 175 BHP. If you want more, you need FMIC, intake mods and a free flowing exhaust and 195ish BHP is doable. Anythng over 240 BHP requires water/methanol injection.

220bhp from a PD150?! Last time I was on here people were lucky to get anything over 200. As a guide the usual out of the PD130 Fabia is about 175bhp. And even that will destroy clutches. You've really got to figure out how long you want the engine to last for - if you only do 5k a year then aim for high bhp, otherwise you'll be in for potentially huge bills.

Please don't bother swapping the front seats - removing the side airbags seems a step too far for about 15kg of savings. Better to remove other stuff.
