Total loss of power and redline at 5k

Post by leescreen123 »

Driving my polo gti home earlier i went to pull away at some lights and therew no power whatsoever, and its also redlining dead at 5k in every gear? The car was running fine the night before, but now seems to be ridicously slow, i'm sure i've heard about this before but can't remember what the problem was.. and search didn't bring anything up..

any ideas whats happend to it?
thanks,

Car has probalby go into SAFE MODE for one reason or another. Any lights on the dash kicking up?

Give the bay a once over (check airflow is clear, fluid levels etc) and get it into a garage to get it vagcom'd.

Thats typical of the camshaft position sender failing. the same happened to mine a few months back. Its the sensor located on top of the rocker cover off center to the right if the engine cover is removed. Not an expensive part either.
