someone explain to me just whyyyyyyyy VW has done this. why not 16v like every other superminis out in the market? :twisted: :twisted: :twisted:

Somehow I've got a feeling 5.3 valves per cylinder wouldn't quite work... :mrgreen:

1.2l engines came in two guises, 6v (55 and later 60PS)and 12v (65 and later 70PS).

It is a basic engine which is obviously cheap for them to fire out in the special editions. Thats probally why garages won't give good money for these samll engines as they generally get hammered to get them up to any great speed. was looking for a car for my sister in law her first and the corsa 1.0l 3 cylinders cars we came across were knackered cylinder head gone gritty oil generally a poor show. we ended up getting a 1.0l polo 6n a four cyliner car and it served her for 2 years with no hassell apart from replacing the original 10 year old battery. not bad. 8)

Me personally I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole unless diesel which is a better choice all round and the trade in is much better at time of selling. :D

there 12v iv got a 1.2 70ps and i love it im used to big cars (ie a4 2.6 v6 bmw 330i volvo t5) but after getting banned i had to get something insurance friendly and for a 3 cylinder 1.2 12v its great its nippy up to 60-70 its the best car in its range buy far!

They aren't all 12v as I said earlier...

The lower output models have 2 valves per cylinder and the higher output ones have 4.
