Re: Tim's GTI. update thread, BRINGING BACK THE MONOS PG31

Post by Tim_GTi »

Right, finally got some update to date pictures.

The stance is now sorted with the Monos, I love it, although have a few issues with people in the rear.

Should probably explain my plate mount I'm running at the moment also. I got sick of running the plate on the lower grill, or not at all and hiding from police. I think this position looks a lot more mature, and OEM.

Took the idea from Haris' brackets, here's how it works:

It keeps the plate in the OEM position nice and close, but off the bumper. then sprayed black with screw caps to keep it subtle.

And here's the pictures, taken with BIG RHYS, on Sunday morning before trecking up to Inters.

Here's the GTi at inters also:

What does everyone think of the new stance?

Dude i'm jalous! :P
I really want to get busy with my car, but I just don't have the money at the moment, so that's pretty f*ed-up.

Maybe in a couple of months, so i can re-adjust the ride-height and some other things..
Damn, I really want to get busy! :(

Looks Awesome Tim,

Loving the stance of the car, its sitting perfectly! couldnt be better

Like what you have done with the plate, looks good.
I have got my bracket on the lower grill but my plate sits just over the splitter. ill get some pics posted when its been cleaned.

Looks great man! Makes me want Monos for my own GTi though  they look so right!

I had a chat with Europl8 at the show re legal metal plates but there is no way to get them without having one's documents handy. And of course I did not :(

Cheers

thanks guy.

Si - yeh they're a bit of a pain mate, i've been tempted by them, as they'd officially make my car fully legal! can't justify how much i've spent of plates alone for the car (they'd be 4th or 5th set!).

They'd look nice on your car though, you had a look on the dubmeister site? same prices as show prices, and you just pick them up from a local participating company with proof of documents.

Spot on Tim, really. That bracket idea is a good 'en, would consider that if I ever smoothed my bumpers..

Is that the Polo finished now, or do you have other plans??

Re: Tim's GTI. update thread, ENGINE AND INTERIOR PG32

Post by Tim_GTi »

Haven't updated in a while,

Changed the passenger CV boot a few weeks back (had a split).

Also removed my lower strut brace at the same time, as it was too hard to get up my drive. If anyone wants this, let me know.

Had the manifold shield polished by a mate, as the red finish wasnt that great

Also had my coolant tank bracket made up, so I painted and fitted that.

Was up til gone 12 last night doing this:
Image
Anyone who's stripped there's before will appreciate how tedious this job is!
I'm in the process of re-painting it now, when it's finished the engine bay will be DONE, so I'll get pics up.

Also stripped all the interior:

Finally getting on with the Black trimming! bought all the material, so just waiting delivery 8)
