My 2001 polo is on about 62 thousand and I've been ingnoring the service light for a bit. Anyone know what needs doing / ball park figure to get it done?

Cheers!

Also had my cam belt/tensioners and water pump changed already

If you have had the belt, tensioners and water pump changed then it probably just requires a general service. Oil Change, Filter, Plugs, Air Filter etc. You could get it booked in at your nearest Volkswagen Dealer or try a respectable independant garage. My service for my GTI last was £117.00 which I thought was reasonable.

Do you think it's worth getting done at a VW dealer? I've missed a few so it's not like i got a record to preserve... By the way was the £117 price from a VW garage?

Nick,
Well to be honest if its just a service then I would avoid VW because of their unpredictable prices. The £117 was with a company called Ash Motors who mainly deal with BMW's. They are based in North wales but if you look for a similar kind of garage that has a good reputation then you cant go wrong.
Volkswagen tend to be expensive for servicing and repairs so I would advise to avoid them if possible.

My Polo had a full VW service history before I bought the car but when I looked at some of the previous servicing charges I decided to find a cheaper solution. Any saving is a bonus so shop around and find a good respectable garage.

Cheers
